Edisto Habitat for Humanity, a local nonprofit Christian housing organization, is seeking a full-time Executive Director to lead our unique, inclusive, and impactful organization.  This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the local organization including home building, thrift store, fiscal management, and supervision of team members. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board President and the full Board of Directors.

The primary responsibilities for the Executive Director are the following:

  • Implement affiliate strategic plan for home-building, family services, fundraising, Thrift Store, volunteer program and community partnerships to deliver mission goals
  • Maintain sound financial procedures, compliance with all commonly recognized accounting practices, and liaison with auditors on annual audit
  • Partner with the Family Selection Committee to ensure partner family selection process abides with fair housing laws and Habitat selection criteria
  • Work on a daily basis with and oversee the progress of partner families
  • Oversee construction program to maintain build schedule and ensure compliance with budgetary and design criteria pertaining to the Habitat mission
  • Participate in the affiliate’s community outreach and fundraising efforts including public presentations, meeting with potential funders, and maintaining and building relationships with city and county officials
  • Work with third party attorneys and realtors to close on homes and find potential plots of land for home development
  • Acquire and maintain certificate through on-line training to become a Qualified Loan Originator
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate affiliate staff on a weekly basis
  • Report progress of strategic plan goals and financial documentation monthly to the Board President and Board of Directors
  • Maintain compliance with all Habitat, State, and Federal rules and regulations to ensure good standing of the organization
  • Grant writing
  • Oversee the day to day operations of affiliate, including accounts payable and receivables.
  • Donor and volunteer appreciation

Qualified applicants should have the following qualifications:

  • Three years’ minimum as organization leader with significant experience in multi-tasking diverse projects and staff supervision essential; nonprofit background preferred
  • Professional experience with affordable housing nonprofit preferred
  • Knowledge and experience working with general accounting principals
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office & Social Media
  • Excellent verbal and written skills including the ability to multi-task and present mission to a wide variety of audiences
  • Grant writing experience preferred
